§§ 1–5 · The Vow

Five promises. In every contract.

Not a slogan. These are clauses in the agreement you sign with us, which means you can hold us to them.

The five promises

  1. Your price is fixed.

The price we sign is the price you pay. Scope only changes through a written change request you approve, priced before work starts.

Why it's there: Many quotes are estimates in disguise: the invoice grows with every “small” change. A fixed price means we carry the risk of our own estimate, which is why every feature is planned and priced in the Blueprint before you commit.

  2. You pay as we deliver.

Start with the Blueprint, from $390 and credited to your build. Then pay each milestone only after you've seen it working and approved it.

Why it's there: You should never pay for work you haven't seen. Paying per approved milestone ties your money to working software, and crediting the Blueprint fee means the planning costs you nothing extra if you build with us.

  3. You own everything. Day one.

Your code lives in your own GitHub from the first commit. Designs, code and accounts are all yours. No lock-in.

Why it's there: Founders get stuck when an agency holds the code or the accounts. Working in your GitHub from the first commit means you can leave at any time with everything you've paid for.

  4. Late? You pay less.† See the fine print

For every full week a milestone is late, 10% comes off that milestone's price, up to 50%.

Why it's there: A deadline without a consequence is only a hope. Tying our price to our dates gives us every reason to plan honestly, and gives you something back if we miss.

  5. Bugs fixed free for 90 days.

If something we built doesn't work as agreed within 90 days of launch, we fix it at no charge.

Why it's there: Launch is when real users arrive. Fixing what we built, free, for 90 days means you never pay twice for our mistakes.

How is the late discount calculated?

Every milestone in your Vow has a price and a date. For every full week a milestone is late, 10% comes off that milestone's price, up to 50%. Only the late milestone is discounted; the others keep their prices.

Worked example
Milestone price$3,000
Due date in the VowMarch 1
DeliveredMarch 16
Full weeks late2
Discount2 × 10% = 20% ($600)
You pay for this milestone$2,400

A milestone that's a few days late, but less than a full week, isn't discounted yet. However late it is, the discount stops at 50% ($1,500 on this milestone).

† The fine print

The clock pauses for client-side delays of more than 2 business days (feedback, content or access), approved scope changes (which come with a new date in writing) and app-store review times.

“Bugs” means defects against the agreed specification. New features are not bugs, and we say which is which in writing.

Business hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm US Eastern.

What does a Vow look like?

Here's a sample for a web app with accounts, payments and an admin dashboard: the price range, the milestone plan, the five promises and the fine print, in one document. You can generate your own in about two minutes.

Questions about the Vow

Is the Vow legally binding?

Yes, once it's signed. The Vow is written into the contract you sign after the Blueprint, next to the scope, the price and the milestone dates. This page and the sample PDF describe those terms; your signed contract is what binds us both.

What if I want to change a feature?

Ask for a change request. We price it and give you any new dates in writing before work starts, and nothing changes until you approve. If you don't approve it, the original scope, price and dates stand.

Who decides whether a milestone is done?

You do. We demo the milestone working against the specs agreed in the Blueprint. You approve it, or tell us what doesn't match and we fix that before asking again. You pay for a milestone only after you approve it.

What if the delay is on my side?

The clock pauses for delays on your side of more than 2 business days, such as waiting for feedback, content or access. We'll always tell you in writing when the clock is paused.

Who owns the code?

You do, from the first commit. We work in a GitHub repository in your account, so the code is yours the whole time, not handed over at the end. Designs and accounts are set up in your name too. If we part ways, you keep everything.

What happens if you're late?

Each milestone has a date written into your Vow. For every full week a milestone is late, 10% comes off that milestone's price, up to 50%. The clock pauses only for delays on your side of more than 2 business days, approved scope changes and app-store review times.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. Ask in your first message and we'll sign one before you share details. Everything we build for you belongs to you under our standard terms as well.
